Kenneth Simon MD, MBA, FACS

Currently serves as board chairman for SBVS. He is a member of the CPT Editorial Board Advisory Panel. Before this appointment, he served as the Chief of Staff for the Gulf Coast Veterans Healthcare System. He received an M.D. degree from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University in Atlanta, Georgia.

He received his training in General Surgery at Howard University and fellowship training in Vascular Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He was a faculty member at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, for 12 years. He served as the Chief of Surgery at the G.V. Montgomery VAMC in Jackson, MS, for seven years.

At the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Washington, DC, he was the senior medical advisor to the Administrator of CMS and the Senior Medical Officer in the Center for Medicare. He is a past member of the ICD-9 and ICD-10 Advisory Board, a CPT panel member for 10 years, and a member of the ACS General Surgery Coding and Reimbursement Committee for 11 years.
